Professionally trained as a speech and language pathologist, Beth has taught special needs children in public schools in Mississippi, Arkansas, and now Birmingham, Alabama for 22 years.
She is a member of the Speech and Hearing Association of Alabama.
By her own account Beth has lived a quiet, somewhat uneventful life.
That all changed quite dramatically last summer when Natalee disappeared.
In 2000, Beth married George "Jug" Twitty, a prominent Alabama businessman, and the family moved to Mountain Brook, Alabama.
Holloway graduated with honors in May 2005 from Mountain Brook High School, located in a wealthy suburb of Birmingham.
The family also called for a boycott of Aruba, which gained Alabama Governor Bob Riley's support but failed to gain widespread backing.
The Aruban prosecutor's office reopened the case on February 1, 2008, after receiving video footage of Van der Sloot, under the influence of marijuana, saying that Holloway died on the morning of her disappearance, and that a friend had disposed of her body. In 2012, Van der Sloot was convicted of the May 30, 2010, murder of Stephany Flores Ramírez in Lima, Peru.
Upon further investigation by authorities, Van der Sloot was arrested twice on suspicion of involvement in her disappearance and the Kalpoes were each arrested three times.
Due to lack of evidence, the three suspects were released each time without being charged with a crime.
Holloway's parents have criticized Aruban police for the lack of progress in the investigation and interrogation of the three men who were last seen with their daughter.
The foundation and the SAFE TRAVELS Student Safety Campaign are endorsed by the National Sheriffs' Association.
In a match seemingly made in tabloid heaven, the father of murdered child beauty queen Jon Benet Ramsey and the mother of missing-in-Aruba teen Natalee Holloway are dating, FOX News has confirmed.
Ramsey on Monday denied the reports that they are dating.
